介词的译法比较复杂，有的要译成汉语的动词、介词词组、定语或状语词组，有的要译成否定式或汉语的成语等。一般来说，如果译文中将表示时间或地点的介词短语所充当的状语置于句首，此时往往可以省略介词。但位于句尾时一般不能省略。例如：
1.省略某些引导时间的介词
（35）The 112th Canton Fair opened on October 15,2012.Despite the impact of continuous slump in the world market,the traditional momentum of China’s foreign trade development has not been fundamentally weakened.
2012年10月15日，第112届广交会开幕，尽管受全球市场仍处于持续降温状态影响，但中国外贸发展的传统优势并未根本削弱。
（36）Sales of luxury goods have fallen off rationally in the Chinese luxury market in 2014.Recently LVMH,the world’s No.1 luxury giant,released its second quarterly financial report,saying its actual sales growth was only 1.3% in the second quarter of the year,of which sales of its fashion leather department under Louis Vuitton dropped by 75% compared with the 10.7% in the first quarter of the year.It can be concluded that the sales shrinkage of LV marks the end of luxury goods in the Chinese market.

街道两旁种着银杏树。银杏树是古老的物种，拥有巨大的药用价值。
（39）Tea is produced in more than 60 countries in the world centering in Asia,Africa and Latin America,while coffee is grown in Brazil,Vietnam,Indonesia,Columbia,India,etc.
世界60多个国家产茶，主要集中在亚洲、非洲和拉丁美洲，而巴西、越南、印度尼西亚、哥伦比亚、印度等国则盛产咖啡。
3.有些与名词搭配的介词可以省略
（40）Due to the conflicts and disputes over the Diaoyu Islands,260 Chinese tourists who had reserved a hot spring hotel in Yamanashi County of Japan cancelled their itinerary,which struck a severe blow to the local tourism,causing huge economic losses.
因为钓鱼岛的冲突和争端，260名预定了日本山梨县温泉宾馆的中国游客，取消了行程。这沉重打击了当地的旅游业，造成了重大的经济损失。
4.有些与形容词搭配的介词可以省略
（41）The newly appointed Chief Human Resource officer,who graduated from Duke University,is good at personnel management.
新任命的人力资源总监毕业于杜克大学，擅长人员管理。
